facebook friends graph creator python

I am trying to make an application similar to this http://ift.tt/1vvqLiP

I don't want a gui so I am planning to use python for this. The problem is how do I fetch a user's friend list. The graph API v2.0+ returns empty, or only friends who also use the same app.

I want my python application to ask for user name and password and it should then prompt for getting permission for reading friend list and then go ahead and fetch the entire friend list of the logged in user and then use this information to create a graph.

I looked at python-facebook-sdk which uses graph api, so the problem of fetching the friend list persists.

How should I go about doing this?
